We are pleased to say that the value of the work done by the Friends has been recognised by Medway Council, and Friends will now have free admission to Eastgate House.
Each Friend will also be allowed one guest at a reduced entrance fee of £2. Just bring your membership card as proof. The free admission does not include free entry to paying events. Our thanks go to Lisa Caleno at Medway Council for organising this.
You can now read about the “The Buck Family and Eastgate House” in a booklet that traces the life and adventures of five generations of the Buck family who lived in the house from c1590 until it was sold in 1687.
We had a good turn-out for the AGM, and were privileged to have the mayor, Councillor Habib Tejan (pictured) with us.
In his address Councillor Tejan was very supportive of community groups such as ours.
The Committee of the Friends are pleased to announce their AGM will be held at Eastgate House on Wednesday 19th June at 6.30pm. Doors open at 6.00pm.
We plan to have a display of our activities over the past year, along with the costumes that we have made or collected and a raffle to help boost funds. The Mayor will be there and the evening will close with tea/coffee and cakes.
There will also be an opportunity to see the wedding exhibition throughout the house.
Come along and find out more and how you can get involved in our activities.
Eastgate House will be launching 'Something old, something new' this summer – an exhibition which highlights wedding customs throughout the ages.
