With the approach of autumn and winter, the sewing group will, once again, be in the throes of producing costumes, c1600 and Victorian. Knot Garden: Sue and Joan at last got to grips with the knot garden located to the side of the house. A string of fine dry days gave time to cut back the vigorously spreading rosemary, lavender and erysimum (everlasting wallflowers) to reveal a poorly, unkempt box hedge, which is the basis of the knot garden. (See pictures below.)
We are pleased to say that the value of the work done by the Friends has been recognised by Medway Council, and Friends will now have free admission to Eastgate House.
Each Friend will also be allowed one guest at a reduced entrance fee of £2. Just bring your membership card as proof. The free admission does not include free entry to paying events. Our thanks go to Lisa Caleno at Medway Council for organising this. |
