On a lovely evening in June, a goodly number of members gathered at Eastgate House for the sixth Annual General Meeting of the Friends. Our Guest of Honour was the Deputy Mayor, Cllr, Habib Tejan, and the Deputy Mayoress, Mrs Tejan. Regrettably there were a number of apologies, but added together the numbers covered a very large percentage of our membership.
The regular business was dealt with efficiently. The Chairman’s report was circulated, and accepted. It gave details of talks, events and activities involving members. In the absence of the treasurer, the chairman gave a brief synopsis of the accounts which were accepted. The election of the committee reflected only one change, and at its first meeting, the new person became our treasurer (see elsewhere in the website for the line-up). At the end of the meeting the deputy mayor kindly said a few words, and then our Researcher gave a resumé of the work we were doing on a booklet about Sir Peter Buck. Members were then invited to look around the house and particularly at the newly uncovered wall paintings on the 3rd floor, showing figures wearing armour. If you would like to join our friendly committee please get in touch.
