The Dickens Festival is too good an opportunity to miss when it came to raising funds for any cause, so the Friends equipped themselves with Public Liability insurance and set up a stall in the entrance hall to the Hub as you turn towards the library. Chairman Sue Haydock had been given a quantity of jewellery, Lilliput Lane models and Cicely Mary Barker Flower Fairy Plates, so it was obvious what we were going to sell.
It was also an opportunity to promote the Friends, and the House, and explain what we had been able to buy for the house. Sue was supported by Friends, Terri, Jennifer, Liz and Paul, over the course of the weekend and together they raised a total of £175.10. Sue still has a few Lilliput models and quite a collection of Cicely Mary Barker Fairy plates, so if you are interested in knowing what is left, please email [email protected], and your request will be passed on to Sue who will send you a list.
