The BBC programme The One Show set up camp at Eastgate House while they filmed a Christmas special about the Dickens Chalet with journalist and broadcaster John Sergeant. John began his report with a visit to Gads Hill, the former home of Charles Dickens with Steve Martin from the Dickens Fellowship and then they came to Eastgate House to visit the Chalet and the house itself.
The house had been beautifully decorated, and the railings in front of the chalet had been interwoven with greenery and fairly lights. In the fading light it looked magical. Members of the Rochester and Chatham Dickens Fellowship helped us to create a reading from A Christmas Carol with costumed characters. We would like to thank everyone for their support, in particular our Chairman, Susan Haydock, who lead on making it a truly memorable day. Comments are closed.
