Once again we had a full house for our talk by David Carder on Medieval Pilgrimages on Thursday 22nd February. It was an afternoon talk which proved to be popular. David gave us a very informative guide through the origins of pilgrimages, who went on them, how they were looked after, who fed them, and the sort of accommodation the encountered. He also explained the various reasons for the pilgrimages, all well illustrated and documented.
We ran a raffle for the first time, and this will be a regular feature of our gatherings. (Suitable donations welcome). Tea, coffee and biscuits were also available for those that wanted them. We have started to ask people to pre-book their place, either by phone or online. This is to let us know that we have enough room for everyone. The room we are using at the moment has a maximum of 40 seats. Keep an eye on our Events page for details of our next talk and to book your tickets.
