Back in the autumn, our Chairman, Sue, provided a number of English bluebell bulbs. They were planted on October, and this spring the first ones to survive the transplanting ordeal have come up. We hope that they will flourish in their new home under the magnificent beech tree by the entrance gate to the garden. The photo shows the bluebells in bloom. A bit thin on the ground at the moment but we hope they will multiply given the chance.
Although this area was turfed when the house was opened last July, it is not a good location for grass, so the plan is to replace it with shade-loving plants, like vinca and cyclamen, and maybe a foxglove or two. If you want to be involved with this planting, please email [email protected].
