How many of you, when visiting the house, have noticed the imitation fires in two of the ground floor rooms? There is one in the main reception room, and one in Sir Peter Buck’s study. Well, there was until it was borrowed to go in the Activity Room where Father Christmas was reading stories to children. With the Christmas tree and the lovely red rug it all looked so warm and cosy. By contrast, however, the fireplace in Sir Peter Buck’s Study looked bare and empty. Step in the Friends. It was quickly agreed by the committee that another fire was needed, and quickly, so within a few days of being back from a Christmas market visit to Germany, Sue had ordered the fire, had it delivered, and Ian was putting it together. What a difference it has made. Maybe we should aim to have one of these very effective fires in each of the fireplaces in the house. The Friends can only be supportive in this and other ways, if members and guests continue to support us at our events, so please take a look at our Events page to see upcoming events Photo 1: The new fire installed.
