Taking heed of the weather warnings, Sue was well prepared for the onset of the snow with a well-stocked larder and with the cancellation of two diary engagements, was well set up for a week of uninterrupted sewing. Sue completed a second outfit for herself, and then set about working with the curtaining and sheeting she had bought for the purposes of making simple costumes for volunteers for the house. The remainders of some French sheeting (thicker than our version) made a blouse to go with some of our existing bodices, and a pair of curtains were made into a skirt. A second pair of curtains is well on their way to becoming a second skirt, both intended to be worn with a ‘bum roll’, fashionable at the time.
