Having sorted the weeding round the chalet Sue Haydock, Chariman of the Friends of Eastage House, then turned her attention to the Heritage weekend itself. Although the house was not part of the weekend (meaning you still had to pay to go in), the council had hired three actors in costume to be around in the house. Sue and her partner Peter joined them on Sunday in fine Stuart costumes that Sue had made herself. Peter stayed mostly in the house in his smart Stuart costume, meeting and greeting, whilst Sue spent her time in the garden raising money for the 'Save the Chalet Fund' for the Rochester and Chatham Dickens Fellowship. Never one to idle away time, Sue also dealt with a few more weeds during quiet times..
The 14th September edition of the Medway Messenger had an article about the house, and included a picture of Sue and Peter in their costumes standing in front of the house.
