David Carder gave us a wonderful insight into the world of maps and their origins. From the very earliest versions done in a straight line down a page, to the very regular representation of Scotland, not looking the least like it is (for some strange reason), and the fact that maps were not always drawn with north at the top. Some of the earliest ones were a bit short on details, whilst others included all sorts of ‘useful’ information. A good turnout made for a very pleasant and entertaining afternoon followed by refreshments and a raffle.
