Unusual Kentish Buildings - 1 April 2015

Once again Rochester Library (The Hub) was the venue for one of our successful talks.  This time popular David Carder gave us a armchair tour of some unusual buildings in Kent, and some of the history associated with them.  After a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit or two, members and friends settled down to a very interesting talk.  One building mentioned was the clock tower at Margate.  Many of us remembered the view of this building from childhood visits to the seaside at Margate, with its shipping time ball at the top.  The tower has recently undergone a programme of restoration, and David mentioned that he regretted that he did not have a photograph of the time ball at the top of its spike. Having been at the 're-opening' ceremony myself, I  had just the photograph David needed to complete his set.  Another really enjoyable evening.
