Victorian School attracts 6000 visitors
Over 6000 people visited the Victorian school event at Eastgate House as part the Dickens Country Experience bus tours and Rochester’s Dickensian Christmas surpassing everyone's expectations.
Medway Council and the Friends recreated a Victorian school at the house to celebrate its rich history and attract visitors, They transformed one of the ground floor rooms and recruited actors from local performing company, Footsteps in Time, to re-enact a School Governess and students from the Victorian era.
Whilst the Friends and volunteers decorated the main reception room and met with visitors..
It was great to see so much interest in the house and to celebrate its rich history.
